John Drury is a singer songwriter from The Worth Valley near Keighley.
John writes and sings all his own material in a unique and captivating style, accompanying himself on acoustic guitar. Many of his songs have a lyrical and spiritual theme, tinged with a touch of humour and of his personal experience of love, life and his travels all over the world. His songs have been covered by nationally known singers, notably the Gracenotes version of his wonderful song, “Finistere”.
John originally comes from London with a full set of Irish genes. His earliest memories are of plainchant singing in church and of his father playing flute with someone playing a bag that he squeezed. They were in fact Uilleann Pipes and the man in question was the great Willie Clancy…They were part of that fine band of Irishmen who brought traditional Irish music to the pubs of London in the early fifties.
John is available for live bookings at folk clubs and venues in Yorkshire, Lancashire and The North.
